The Signal — When a Button Gets Pushed
Nobody is born with buttons. They form. In a relationship that mattered, something hurt. A conclusion formed and went underground. The wound didn't disappear. It waited.
The reaction is the signal. When something in a relationship triggers a response bigger than the moment deserves — that's not a flaw. That's a thread.
Jesus is present in this moment. He is closest to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). A button getting pushed isn't just an uncomfortable moment — it's an invitation.
How to recognize the signal: reaction bigger than situation — still thinking hours later — same feeling across different relationships — pull to withdraw/defend/attack/go numb — body tightens before mind catches up
What to do: Slow down. Name it: something just got triggered. Bring it to Jesus: Jesus, something happened. I want to understand what this is.
